Organize income and expenses so reports and analysis stay clear and useful.
Categories let you label every non-transfer transaction (for example: Fundraising Income, Uniforms, Travel, Donations). The first time you open the page, FireSafe loads a standard set of band-booster categories. You can keep them, edit them, or add your own.
Click “Create New Category”. Enter a name and an optional description. From the list you can also Edit or Delete any category. Deleting a category does not delete transactions — it only removes the category link from those transactions.
When you add or edit a transaction on the Accounts page, choose a category from the dropdown (or create a new one on the fly). Categories appear in the transaction table and are used for reports and analysis.
Click a category name to open its detail page. You will see:
Click the Analysis button to open pie charts that break down Credits (income) and Debits (expenses) by category. Uncategorized amounts are included when present. Internal transfers are excluded so the charts reflect real activity.
Click Print Report to generate a printable Category Report. You can:
The report shows credits, debits, net, and transaction counts per category, plus totals. Transfers are excluded.
Tip:
Consistent category use makes year-end reports and board presentations much easier. Assign a category whenever you record a deposit or expense.
